Rethinking and redefining work & worth, purpose & pleasure, dream & reality

What are you doing “for work”? And is it, for you and the world around you, (partly) defining your (self-)worth? What, do you think, feel and believe is your purpose here on this planet? Are you here for work or for living the most pleasurable life possible? (Pleasure could be found in the tiniest corners and priceless things: a shower in the morning, or sip of water, scent and taste of coffee, a human hug or walk in the woods …)

What do you want from life? What do you want to do with your precious time here? Does your day-to-day job (if you happen to have one) make you happy? How does your professional doing affect you and the world around you, near and far? Considering this, how happy are you with what you are doing with a huge part of your time, especially when you are working what we call “full-time”? (And who defines that it’s 40 hours a week or more or less?)

What if your main goal and purpose in life were being and becoming the kindest, wisest, happiest version of yourself? And what if “work” doesn’t bring you closer to this goal? What if you take a break, a holiday, some time off (for speakers of German and Scandinavian languages: “Urlaub” or “orlov” comes from the word “Erlaubnis” = permission or leave) – and allow yourself to ask questions, to reconsider your priorities, to dream – of an almost endless series of holy days, dedicated to being shiny happy and healthy people helping each other to get out the most of this life and to give back at the same time, or to just live a simple lifestyle and be quiet and content.

What’s your dream? How about, for example, flying for professional reasons is reduced to a minimum, and, if we get on a plane it’s for pleasure alone, for getting to know this lovely planet and its lovely human, animal and plant population? What if we stop putting effort and energy in doing and producing stuff nobody really needs and focus on what we do need and love? What if (y)our dreams create (y)our reality?
